Indian Mahasakthi Group Invests USD 1,2 Billion in CAR’s Agriculture

Bangui, October 2, 2025 – More than 100,000 jobs will be created by the Indian-led agro-industrial project which is set to transform the Central African Republic’s economy. The landmark initiative, spearheaded by T. Rajkumar, President of Mahasakthi Group, was finalized a few weeks ago in the presence of President Prof. Faustin-Archange Touadéra and is backed by the Central African government, the pan-African conglomerate SCIS Group, and Afriland First Bank.

A Model of Local Integration

Spanning 30,000 hectares, the program will dedicate half the land to local farmers. Organized into 5-hectare units, over 3,000 agro-entrepreneurs will directly manage cultivation, ensuring that the benefits reach deep into rural communities. The expected impact is significant: 100,000 direct jobs across plantations, processing plants, and two biomass power stations fueled by sugarcane residues, together generating 70 megawatts of renewable electricity.

International Expertise Meets Local Potential

Mahasakthi Group brings proven expertise from India, where it oversees 100,000 hectares of cultivation, produces 14,000 tons of sugar daily, and operates eight cogeneration plants. This technical know-how is combined with the regional leadership of SCIS Group, represented by Albert F. Bengala, and the financial expertise of Afriland First Holding under Dr. Guy-Laurent Fondjo and Dr. Paul K. Fokam.

Driving Economic Sovereignty

Beyond agriculture, the project is designed to strengthen food security, diversify the economy, and empower rural entrepreneurs, while contributing to clean energy production. For Minister of Economy, Planning and International Cooperation, Prof. Richard Filakota, the initiative is more than an investment: “It is a sign of the respect our country deserves, with over 5 million hectares of arable land. The Central African Republic is open and ready to welcome more investors.”

With this initiative, the Central African Republic signals a new era where agriculture, energy, and entrepreneurship converge. Quietly but decisively, President Touadéra, Mr. Rajkumar, and their partners are laying the foundation for a social and economic transformation with regional and continental resonance.
