Round Table in Casablanca: CAR Aiming to Improve the Business Climate

Casablanca, September 16, 2025 – At the International Investment Round Table in Casablanca, the Central African Republic (CAR) showcased its determination to reshape the country’s business environment. Authorities, development partners, and private investors came together with one central ambition: to mobilize over 7,000 billion CFA francs in support of the National Development Plan.

Building Confidence Through Reform

The CAR government presented a reform agenda that seeks to combine fiscal competitiveness, improved security, transparency, and open dialogue with investors. These pillars, officials stressed, will form the foundation for long-term investment and sustained growth.

Prof. Richard Filakota, Minister of Economy, Planning and International Cooperation, captured this ambition in his address: “We are committed to offering an attractive tax framework, reinforced security, permanent institutional support, and an open dialogue. Investing in the Central African Republic today means believing in tomorrow’s Africa—an Africa that is ambitious, inclusive, and competitive.”

Private Sector as a Driving Force

Discussions in Casablanca highlighted not only the role of the state but also the growing importance of the private sector, which already accounts for nearly 70 percent of the country’s GDP. National enterprises presented projects in infrastructure, energy, and natural resource development, demonstrating their readiness to take part in the country’s transformation.

For Jean Félix Ouanfio, CEO of Centrafricaine des Partenaires en Construction, the Round Table provided a platform to align private ambition with national priorities: “We designed our project to contribute directly to the development of our country. This forum gave us the opportunity to showcase it and to be part of the collective effort to mobilize resources for the National Development Plan.”

A Roadmap for Inclusive Growth

The PND 2024–2028 sets out a path toward inclusive and sustainable growth, informed by lessons from earlier strategies and the results of the National Prospective Study. With a focus on human development, economic diversification, and governance reform, the plan aims to build a resilient future while ensuring that the benefits of growth are broadly shared.
