A Historic First: CAR’s BGFI Bank Awarded Certification in Fight against Money Laundering

Bangui, September 22, 2025 – The Central African Republic has taken an important step in strengthening its financial governance and transparency. At a high-level ceremony in Bangui, Hervé Kogboma, Managing Director of BGFI Bank Centrafrique, officially received the AML3001 Certificate, marking a historic moment for the nation’s banking sector.

The certificate AML3001 is an internationally recognized label dedicated to the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism. The certification confirms that BGFI Bank Centrafrique complies with stringent international standards on anti-money laundering procedures, internal controls, and transparency mechanisms. Its attribution signals that the institution has developed robust systems to prevent, detect, and report suspicious financial activities in line with global benchmarks.

A Historic Recognition

The award of the AML3001 Certificate is a first-of-its-kind recognition in the Central African Republic, underlining both the leadership of Mr. Kogboma and the progress made by the banking sector. In front of high-ranking government representatives, including the Prime Minister Félix Moloua, the Minister of Finance Hervé Ndoba, and the President of the National Assembly, the event highlighted the government’s determination to strengthen compliance and financial integrity.

International organizations and regulatory representatives also attended, underscoring the broader significance of this achievement for the CAR’s reputation in global financial markets.

  • Demonstrates a serious commitment to combating money laundering and terrorist financing,

  • Strengthens investor and partner confidence in the CAR’s banking system, and

  • Contributes to the credibility and attractiveness of the country’s economy in the eyes of the international community.

The attribution of the AML3001 Certificate shows: the Central African Republic is committed to aligning with international financial standards.
