Casablanca (Morocco) / Bangui (CAR), September 17, 2025. A vote of confidence for the government of the Central African Republic: At an international investment round table in Casablanca under the motto “Ambition28”, the country’s National Development Plan was presented for the first time to around 500 participants. At the end of the conference, financing commitments totaling USD 9 billion were secured. This represents a decisive step toward implementing the plan and boosting the country’s economic recovery. The total volume of the investment program amounts to USD 12.8 billion, around a quarter of which had already been secured in the run-up to the conference.
Presidential Vision: Investing in Africa’s Future
In his closing remarks, Prof. Faustin-Archange Touadéra, President of the Central African Republic, emphasized both gratitude and ambition: “At this very moment, the Central African Republic extends its hand to you to build together the future of tomorrow: an Africa that innovates, that produces, and that shines. Our goal is, on the one hand, to set in motion a genuine dynamic of development and structural change in the country at the economic, social, and environmental levels and, on the other hand, to reduce poverty and improve the well-being of our population. I reaffirm our thanks to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to our technical and financial partners, to investors, and to all our friends. Investing in the Central African Republic today means investing in an Africa of hope and shared prosperity.”
The two-day, high-profile event brought together international partners, investors, and representatives of the Central African Republic to discuss key reforms and projects in the areas of infrastructure, agro-industry, digitalization, energy, security, and governance. The National Development Plan comprises a total of 543 projects, 24 of which were presented in detail in Casablanca. These key initiatives are intended to lay the foundation for a new social and economic base and the reconstruction of important infrastructure.
Partnerships and Agreements Signed
More than 18 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and strategic agreements with international companies, banks, and institutions were signed at the round table. These included the World Bank, the African Development Bank, the European Commission, the UN, the Arab Development Bank for Africa, the IMF, and the IFC.
These partnerships signal not only the willingness of investors to participate in the country’s priority projects, but also great confidence in the government of the Central African Republic, which has achieved significant stabilization in the country in recent years.
Gervais Doungoupou, National Coordinator of the National Development Plan, summarized the spirit of the event: “This Round Table marks a decisive moment. It seals a partnership of confidence with our international friends and partners, and it demonstrates our shared ambition to move from promises to concrete achievements for the people of the Central African Republic.”
Sign of strong cooperation between the CAR and the Kingdom of Morocco
The host country, Morocco, provided significant political and institutional support in organizing and hosting the round table, underscoring its role as a key hub for African investment.
“The Central African Republic has defined a solid vision,” said Nadia Fettah, Moroccan Minister of Economy and Finance, in her opening speech at the round table. She reaffirmed that the Kingdom of Morocco stands alongside the Central African Republic, which is on a promising path to development. She highlighted the role of public-private partnerships in ensuring the sustainability of projects and identified energy, agriculture, digitalization, and infrastructure as priority areas.
New Confidence for the Central African Republic
“The Central African Republic is back! This became clear to the world at the round table in Casablanca. We are delighted with the overwhelming response to our conference and the tremendous support we have received. This trust is an obligation for us to implement all projects in the best possible way and to set the next milestone in our country’s development by 2028,” said Prof. Richard Filakota, Minister of Economy, Planning, and International Cooperation. “We would like to thank the Kingdom of Morocco for its tremendous support, without which this round table would not have been possible.”
