Empowering Women: Driving the Future of the Central African Republic

Bangui, October 4, 2025 – Women are the heart of the Central African Republic. Their resilience, strength, and determination carry communities forward and hold the keys to the nation’s transformation.

Dr. Marthe Augustine Kirimat, Minister for the Promotion of Gender, Protection of Women, Family and Children, is spearheading a bold agenda that places women at the center of development. Under her leadership, the Ministry is driving flagship initiatives – from building gender-sensitive infrastructure and creating safe spaces, to combating violence against women and girls and empowering women economically across the country.

Education lies at the core of this vision. Investing in girls’ training and education not only builds a stronger and more inclusive future but also fuels economic growth and innovation. As Dr. Kirimat emphasizes, women already form the backbone of the economy: in rural areas, they account for more than 80% of all economic activity.

The message is clear: the future of the Central African Republic is female – and it begins now.

Watch the video below to see how the country is driving women’s empowerment to grant women the role they deserve as active shapers of the nation’s future.
